Beauty Secrets from Shalini Vadhera's "Passport to Beauty"

Beauty Secrets from Shalini Vadhera's "Passport to Beauty"

Shalini Vadhera is a reportedly a renowned expert in the field of beauty. (As I have not yet had the privilege of meeting Shaline in person, I unfortunately can’t give any first-hand accounts as to her beauty regimes outside of what I have read.)

That didn’t stop me from devouring the following beauty secrets and tricks of the trade which are excerpted from her book, Passport to Beauty which contains, Secrets and Tips from Around the World for Becoming a Global Goddess. I’ve always found the idea of becoming a goddess appealing, I thought I’d take a gander and see what Ms. Vadhera had to say. Here are some of my personal favorites from the book—fortunately, the recipes are all meant to be done at home with or without a friend.

Beauty Scrub:

Ms. Vadhera gives the following recipe for a body scrub that I can’t wait to try:

½ cup sea salt

½ cup beach sand

She recommends using the body scrub for rough areas like your elbows, feet, and knees. (If you have any winter tropical beach vacations planned, you could try doing a body scrub in the ocean water, too.)

Korean Face Masque

2 eggs

flour

1 mashed cucumber

Mix the ingredients together (use as much or as little flour to achieve a consistency you like) and apply to your face for ten minutes. The purpose of this masque is to increase the firmness of the skin on your face.

California Face Masque

1 mashed avocado

¼ cup plain yogurt

Use the avocado on your skin as a face masque for 20 minutes to hydrate and refresh your skin. If you are hungry, you can always eat a little bit of the avocado before mashing it up.

Dominican Republic Nail Strengthener

Use chopped up garlic with clear nail polish. Leave on nails for one week—preferably when nobody is in smelling distance of your nails—and hopefully your nails will be stronger as a result. (This, of course, has the added benefit of warding off any Vampires that may be in your vicinity. If you are trying to woo your own personal Edward, I recommend forgoing this nail-strengthening method.)

Latin Secret for Lowering Cholesterol

Drink a tablespoon of oatmeal every night with a glass of water before you go to bed. Oatmeal (supposedly) contains lipoprotein, which is a bonified cholesterol-fighter.

-------Again, some of these tips sound made-up and all I can tell you is that Shalini Vadhera included them in her book. So, either she has great connections throughout the beauty world, or she is very creative when making up beauty tips. Either way, enjoy the tips and let me know how they work out.--------
