The High Cost of Beauty

I can see how this could be expensive for a high maintenance type. The only thing I can justify really blowing a ton of money on is shoes. Other than that, I can't even remember the last time I shaved my legs or armpits, let alone wax them. I don't wear make-up except for a little eye-liner on special ocassions. And as far as beauty products go, puh-lease!-- wash your face with a little Dove and lukewarm water, and slap on a little moisturizer with SPF. It doesn't have to be complicated. Women need to smarten up and not let their lives be ruled by stupid ad campaigns in glossy magazines.

I'm pretty in between myself, but live in an area with no less than two modeling agencies, so the beauty standards are pretty high. It's obviously a personal choice, but there are a lot of people out there who are very critical based solely on appearance alone. Quite a number of years ago, I was told that I was denied a job based on "bad hair".

It's not only the women who are buying into it, but the men, employers, etc. and some women feel better with some make up.
